Con El Sol – A Video

It has taken me too long to hit the blog again since the show.  Wow!  What a show and what a night!  Thanks to everyone who came out and supported!  The show went so smoothly that I cannot even believe it and, thank goodness, because I was a little nervous about this one.  Being a worry-wart, I just hope for the avoidance of unpredictable disasters like models falling, power outage, things like that.   Having said that though, I was in very good hands with Jillian Rabe as my producer.  She can organize and deliver!  Also, she did a great deal to calm me basically by taking care of EVERYTHIING the day of the show.  Her team busted some ass, and I owe a big thank you to them all!

For those who missed the show, here is a video taken on my iPhone of the Con El Sol spring collection part of the show.  Hope to have a “professional” video out to you soon!  I also hope to get more behind the scenes photos.  Enjoy!

Con El Sol, Down to the Wire: Do you have tickets yet?

Squee!!  I am so excited!  I cannot believe that we are virtually on the eve of the show.  It has been a LOT of work pulling the collection together on top of all the planning, coordinating, etc.  Throw on top of that, we just had Content Saturday night, which also took a lot of time and energy.  Myself, Jillian Rabe and her team have been working tirelessly to make sure this event will deliver an amazing experience to the audience.  We are very excited and think you will love it!

The highlight of this show is the Isaac Hers Spring 2012 collection Con El Sol.  The inspiration for this collection primarily comes from the gray skies of Portland, thus, my desire to be “Con El Sol” or “With the Sun.”  The thought and feeling of being on the beach with the sunshine warming my body is heaven, and conjures great memories of many, many beach visits and vacations.  Specifically, I channeled all of my vacations south of the border.  Even as I write this,  I feel this sense of place that makes me feel relaxed and happy.  I need that right now!!  Also, my reward for all this hard work is a November trip to Hawaii with my family.  That is the most welcome vacation!!

I sincerely hope that you walk away from this show with the same warm feeling inside.  If you do, we have done our job well.  The show will be held in the Pearl District on a first Thursday, so the overall ambiance will be a festive one all around.  Also, it happens to be the 25th anniversary of First Thursday!  That is kinda cool!  The venue is just perfect and will be themed all around with a “south of the border” vibe!

Doors open at 6:30pm, show is scheduled to begin at 8pm.  We have awesome sponsors too.  Solestruck, our new neighbor, will be out fitting all the models with amazing shoes, Prima Salon, our other neighbor, will be doing all the hair and makeup, and Bridgeport Brewing supplied us with ample beer.  We also have a special Isaac Hers margarita!  Stay after the show and enjoy a DJ fueled dance party.  I am very excited and hope to see you!  So many people have worked so hard to pull this together, don’t miss it.  Get your tickets right here on my website.

Last Saturday was the second coming of Content at the Ace Hotel.  By any measure, it was a huge success.  And, despite being inside a small hotel room for nearly 10 hours, it was  great time!  I didn’t find out how many attendees were there, but it was A LOT!  A big thank you to the Portland Mercury and their crew for organizing and coordinating this huge event!

The theme for my room was a relaxing beach party at sunset located ambiguously somewhere south of the border.  This is the inspiration behind the Con El Sol Spring Collection and Fashion Show coming up this Thursday.

My friend and collaborator, Jillian Rabe, was there with me during the set up.  Jillian is also the producer of the upcoming fashion show. We had a load in time of 12:30 and were concerned that it would be difficult to get everything in place by the 4pm press time.  So with this pressure, we decided that drinking a beer was necessary.  Ha!

Armed with a cold cerveza, we were off and running.  The room turned out great!  The fake fire was the star of the show, of course, but I think we succeeded in creating a very relaxing ambiance.

We had an awesome video projection with relaxing flamenco guitar music and wave sounds incorporated.    A big ridiculous THANK YOU to Sean Barrett for putting that together for us.  I think it completed the room.  Jillian went out to the Oregon coast to get grass from the dunes and some sand.  She is awesome!  Lastly, the styrofoam cooler loaded with cold Pacificos completed the room.

Finally, we actually attended this inviting beach party!  It was a lot of fun.  We are all clad in a few pieces from the spring collection.

While I did not get pictures from the other rooms, they were just awesome!  The mime from across the hall shuffled over to warm his hands on our fire.  Love it!!

Here, Jillian and I are all dolled up for the beach party and acted as though we were warming ourselves by the fire.   The fire, of course, was merely one of those LED blowing silk flames.  It was a pretty impressive facsimile.

Lots and lots of friends, customers, acquaintances strolled through the room, some lingering for awhile to enjoy the installation.  I wish I took more pictures.  These though will have to suffice.  Can’t wait until next time!!

Con el Sol – Model Call: Behind the Scenes

Now that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, I am getting excited about our show Con El Sol.  The collection is not *yet* done, but almost all of it will be done by this Friday!!  That will give me the weekend to really get into Content.  More on Content in a post later today.  Anyway, here is a little video made by my friend Allan Luebke during model casting with Jillian Rabe.  Cannot wait for the show!!!  Get you tickets right here on our website.

Isaac Hers presents Spring 2012: Con el Sol

Stepping into the fall fashion season, Portland designer line and store, Isaac Hers welcomes guests to join an evening filled with fashion, runway, shopping, and art.

Con El Sol is a showcase of both in-season shopping (available at Isaac Hers flagship location: 415 SW 13th) and a premier peek into what’s to come from Isaac Hers Spring 2012.

The inspiration for the Spring 2012 collection, “Con el sol” came quite literally from the desire (and direct translation,) “to be with the sun.” “I channeled my love of the beach and memories of vacations south of the border into this warm and bright collection. After 16 years of living in the grey skies of Portland, I found myself needing a little beach retreat.” This collection combines the spirit and color of Latin American tradition and the peacefulness of relaxing by the ocean, then marrying it all together in an urban, and sophisticated ensemble.

We look forward to seeing you!! It is going to be a great show and a memorable evening!
